agreed...with an arm injury, there isn't much he is able to do

it will take him WEEKS to get back in football shape

read he's supposed to be back by week 3. I took a gamble and drafted him in the 6th

He's been running and lifting weights for weeks. They just don't let him participate in contact activities.

Oh, I'm sure he has been lifting weights. That's part of physical therapy. But, lifting weights post op is not like lifting weights as an NFL TE.

He has to restrengthen his back post surgery so yeah, there will be weight training involved.

Additionally, his forearm has not truly been tested because of his back injury/surgery.

This is the same surgery he had in 2009 and in 2009, this is what he had to say:

“I just chilled for a month and a half, sitting on the couch,” Gronkowski said. “That’s basically all you can do.”

“This idiot put him on weights right away,” said the father. “You don’t strengthen a disk. It’s not a muscle. You got to let the damn thing heal totally and then work on core strength. Stretch the hamstrings. This guy had him doing stupid things that didn’t help.”

After being holed up for a month and a half, Rob finally was able to do back and core exercises, which “helped minimize the setbacks and flare-ups,” Schober wrote.

So, if his surgery was June 18 and he (learning from previous errors) didn't even start dong core work until July 30, he has been lifting weights for three weeks.

How long you think it will take him to be football ready. Not WR or average TE football ready, but dominating top 5 round TE football ready?

He is instantly Top 3 the day he sets foot on the field.

And if anyone knew when that would be, his draft position would be a little clearer. Problem is, nobody knows. Some people say week 3, some people say PUP and most say doubtful for week 1.

The big report that came out and said week 3 clarified and said, "provided there are no setbacks".

While week 3 may be possible, it is an absolute best case scenario and the faith is going into someone who has had nothing but setbacks in his recovery and would be less than a month and a half removed of 6 weeks of complete non activity.
