But the attorney was asking for the waiver, and using the clause as the reason why he couldnt tell the whole story and that MLB was hiding behind it. So then Lauer says here you here is what you asked for. The waiver was more a release for MLB than AROD, the attorney was just using the clause as a means to hide behind. MLB called their bluff and rightfully so. I believe the lawyer also hinted at him not wanting MLB to release everything, just a few things. which is even more suspect

the attorney was trying to dominate a 24 hour news cycle by getting the word out that MLB wouldn't let them talk... MLB using Lauer to shoot down that play sucks for them but it isn't like his lawyer would give MLB a heads up every time they leaked something to a member of the media
