Excellent ambush. At least now maybe his douche of an attorney will shut his mouth

So you expect a lawyer to sign a draft of a contract that was drafted by the opposing party without consulting his client or having an opportunity to red-line the document? Man...

This

Any lawyer willing to sign a random piece of paper on air a reporter claims is sent by the party you are in a legal entanglement with should be disbarred for being incompetent.

There was basically nothing he could do. Anything short of doing just that, and people would pounce on him, it definitely put him in a no win situation, and I think Lauer knew that and is kind of a POS for doing it, but it got people talking about his show and that is the main objective.

On national TV, no less.

I mean, I'm 100% on board with the general consensus that A-Rod and his whole team are massive tools, but it's ridiculous to think he would have done anything other than exactly what he did in the situation.

a simple - "fantastic! we have been wanting to talk, we cant wait to review this and bring our information forward as soon as possible" wouldve been a bit more persuasive than "ummm i uhhhh... ummmm... someday itll be clear we were right"

agreed somewhat, no lawyer would sign something before reading it. But the attorney was asking for the waiver, and using the clause as the reason why he couldnt tell the whole story and that MLB was hiding behind it. So then Lauer says here you here is what you asked for. The waiver was more a release for MLB than AROD, the attorney was just using the clause as a means to hide behind. MLB called their bluff and rightfully so. I believe the lawyer also hinted at him not wanting MLB to release everything, just a few things. which is even more suspect
