Did anyone else think the music they played during the film sounded really good? Obviously the songs were, but the way it came through sounded amazing. Maybe I'm over-analyzing but nothing has ever sounded that high-quality over my speakers

I agree, virtually every song sounded great. And I'm not really a fan of most of the bands that were featured in this doc.

I thought the same thing. The quality of the sound, particularly when describing that famous drum-sound, was goosebump-inducing (yes, I'm probably partial 'cause I'm a drummer). I bought the soundtrack and it's something I listen to pretty often...
