Every auction is different. Make sure you do your research, and know what you want to spend on certain players.
Get the players you definitely want on your team out the way first and if you have to spend a little more to have them on your team do so.
If you value player X at 50 and you have to bid 55 to get him (that's onlt 10% difference in value). It's worth it, if you really value someone.

excellent advice.
Also, if most of the people in your league are new to auction drafting be ready for people to spend insane amounts early on some guys. Spending half your budget on AD might seem like an awesome idea since he's being rated 1st overall, but your team needs more than 1-2 studs.
