I know that there was chatter today about the offense getting the better of the defense in the Big Cat Drill and then I watched it and that was clearly the case. Maybe the BCD doesn't matter too much, but if you go back over the years, it has actually been a pretty good indicator of size, strength, quickness, and aggression. The Defense usually wins. Now, the offense is.

What does it mean?

We return 9 starters on offense and our offensive line is being built to maul people. That is part of what is happening.

Our Defense is young. Guys are going to be unsure of themselves and make mistakes.

They say at this time of year that the Defense is supposed to be ahead of the Offense. Maybe Cam is lighting a fire under the offensive guys? Maybe the defense is going to have a steeper learning curve?

Maybe it was the Big Cat Drill and it means nothing?

Discuss.

I don't think you can gauge too much from Big Cat.

If the O is ahead of the D, I would attribute it more to the O having more starters back than on D.

The big cat drill is basically blocking which is what the offense does.

This actually excites me. I have no doubt that Chavis will have a good defense. If the offense is better, it tells me it's because they have improved greatly.

It means our offense will be much improved and defense will take time to catch up during the season. It LOOKS like we're young on D and don't have explosiveness, though we won't really know till we play. Also, this gives you an indication of size/strength/speed though in-game stamina and motor can't be assessed. Maybe Ego and Freak get better as the games goes.

The defense should always be ahead of the offense. The last time the offense was better than the D this early 2008 happened.

good grief, it's a one-on-one drill just to get the team fired up. Can't tell a thing from an overall team perspective from it.

big cat isnt an indicator of anything. Les started it to ramp up intensity. It means nothing.

It means you got to see many of the new guys and not a lot of the veterans if you go back and look at the video. I would not look too much into it right now. Chavis is building this defense on speed in the LB's and DB's

On a side note did you all see Kendall Beckwith? He has bulked up. Roster shows him at 6'3" 246 lbs. Hope that is not baby fat. That is looking like MLB...
