Gary Patterson: "It's not my worry"

That should have been your only comment, coach.

quote:

If y'all are elite

If???

LSU has played in 3 BCSCGs, won 4 SEC titles, and has a 107-25 in the last 10 seasons while playing in the very most powerful college conference in the nation.

I have read through most of this thread.

There is a whole lot of chest beating and boisterous proclamation.

So many have taken GP's comment out of context. I am certain many don't even realize that he was commenting on a direct question about his currently suspended player. He was not going out of his way to attack LSU or CLM in his answer.

GP has a long history of standing by strict discipline and being unwilling to bend on principle. He also has a history of wearing those principles on his shoulder and making them evident during press conferences.

Patterson's comments reflect his decision to keep the suspension despite the fact that Fields is appealing the suspension with the school. His statement that it is not his decision, means exactly that. Patterson if overruled will not be happy with the decision to lift the suspension. Patterson has a long track record of putting players development as men above his need for them on the field. And despite that he has one hell of a winning record at TCU!

I agree with Gary. I will never be able to cheer for Hill even when he scores.

There is no way you can try and spin what Patterson said as not being a direct shot at Les Miles. Right or wrong it was a shot..

I just didn't realize TCU was the moral police for the rest of college football. Glad to know it! Not to mention that Patterson doesn't know how Les is going to punish Hill or even if he is not suspended for multiple games. He put is foot in his mouth way to early because last time I checked the D-end from TCU suspended for LSU game is ON THE TEAM at practice right?

You are correct, I don't have to spin it. He was asked if he would put Fields return to the team to a vote similar to what happened with Hill. He responded by answering without a single reference to LSU or Miles. He simply said he already knows how his players would vote and would not allow it because it did not match his principles.

When GP takes a shot at someone, it is evident because he uses their name and/or position.

except that he specifically brought up Miles and LSU.

Patterson made his bed...now he must get curbstomped in it.

Sometimes I wonder what kind of life these holier than thou attitudes live. You make a judgement about someone without having all the facts and obviously have no ability to allow forgiveness or second chances?

I am not of the opinion that he already had a strike against him concerning a bj in high school.

All these people like to say what a great family man Les is and how he handles himself w class and now he's a non-disciplinarian?

All these coaches are guiding young men from very different, and often times much tougher upbringings than many of the posters on this board could imagine. And they play a game that requires violence and risk of serious bodily harm. A game that many posters here would and could never play, much less allow their kids to play.

But you sit up there and judge from your ivory tower. God forbid you or your child ever has a run in with the law and you get the appropriate treatment by the justice system.

Jeremy Hill was treated no different than any other 20 yr old in his situation.

dude your coach popped off with "if they were playing a team they would beat by 100 im sure there wouldnt be a vote".

that's douchy, no way around it. the player vote thing has been in effect since saban was here. not to mention he made it sound like miles left it ONLY up to the players.

you do realize Miles has to let the person back first, and then secondly he takes a players vote (moreso to see if there is any objection). Patterson came across extremely ignorant. to try and state otherwise is just pissing in the wind.

Ok, then why this:

quote:

“I'm sure if it was some opponent they'd beat by 100 points [the players] wouldn't have a vote

Seems pretty clear GP he was in disagreement with the way LM handled the matter.

It's not a big deal, but GP didn't need to jump so eagerly at the reporter's bait. imo

quote:

Patterson has a long track record of putting players development as men above his need for them on the field

That's fine.

Has he kicked his starting QB off the team when no other QB on the team has ever taken a snap for TCU or kicked off his team a 2 position AA and HT finalist as Miles has done?

Bottom line, Miles needs to speak to LSU stuff and GP needs to speak to TCU stuff cause that's what the know best.

All time, we're 3-2 against 'Bama all time. They won the last two meetings ('74, '75) by a combined score of 84-6. We won the first three meetings by a combined score of 72-3.

That's all I got.

Hill should be suspended for the first 3 games though. No and or If's about it. He fricked up. Miles should have just said suspended for 3 games so all these crybabies would be null and void. Hill needs some damn discipline.

When has Miles ever announced a suspension or injury. It just doesnt happen. It may be frustrating to you or me but that's his philosophy. So he was suppose to change that philosophy on the off chance gary patterson would make himself look stupid two days later?

indefinitely. just like hill. those situations are a little different.

but he's not going to announce game suspensions.

he never even acknowledge that mathieu, simon, and ware were suspended for the auburn game two years ago.
