I recently started hunting coyotes and on my first 3 hunts I have called up 4 coyotes. But they stay about 250 to 300 yards out and won't come any closer. I'm well hidden and they all have came out upwind from me. I have a motion decoy and a caller. All I have is a red dot scope on my ar-15 and i would feel better taking a shot within 100 yards any tips on getting them to come closer.

Bring a calf - they can't resist it.

first suggestion wold be another scope.. or scope/gun combo. I have a 204 i can pop them with ease as long as i can see them.

As far as getting them closer, they are very cautious.. will always come down wind, and can pick up on anything out of the ordinary. What call are you using? if ur using a rabbit squeal or similar as soon as you see the yote switch to mouse squeek or lip squeek and they come in closer alot of times

I only had iron sights on M16, and felt quite comfortable shooting targets at 300m. You try picking up your motion decoy?
