quote:Because Magic has become his name. He would probably introduce himself as Magic. Alex Rodriguez wouldn't introduce himself as A-rod.
why not?

Magic Johnson has part of his real name in it. It's basically like Babe Ruth or Yogi Berra.
Dr J and RGIII are total replacements for the real name. You never see "RGIII Griffin"
IMHO A-Rod has been A-Rod so long he's approaching that Dr J-RGIII level.

That's the whole stupid point of this stupid thread -- to see who would stupidly qualify under that stupid criterion

I was defending you on the Help board saying I wish I liked you posting, now I think you should take another break

I agree, but the other day someone on here was saying "who the hell even knows him by that? Aaron Rodgers is the only ARod anymore."

Years and years ago at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am, Dr. J was playing and we were following him because he was signing autographs.
Most people got..."Dr. J #6" as the autograph.
A classmate of mine chased him down after he'd teed off...and was yelling..."Dr! Dr!"
Dr. J. stopped and signed the paper..."Julius Erving" in big cursive.
My friend acted disappointed.
