Alex Rodriguez plans to appeal a 211-game drug suspension related to the Biogenesis case and play Monday night for the Yankees against the White Sox, according to people involved the case. He will be the only one of the 13 players to appeal.

quote: Rodriguez’s discipline under the Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program is based on his use and possession of numerous forms of prohibited performance-enhancing substances, including Testosterone and human Growth Hormone, over the course of multiple years. Rodriguez’s discipline under the Basic Agreement is for attempting to cover-up his violations of the Program by engaging in a course of conduct intended to obstruct and frustrate the Office of the Commissioner’s investigation. The suspension, which will become effective on Thursday, August 8th, will cover 211 Championship Season games and any 2013 Postseason games in which Rodriguez otherwise would have been eligible to play.

He's playing on the road. The amount of boo's raining down on him should rival Barry Bonds prime.

211 games is not even a full two seasons. Hell, it's not even 1.5 seasons.

so since he's appealing does that mean he would technically miss the beginning of 2015 as well?

This my have already been asked and answered, but if the appeal drags on does that mean the suspension could carry over into 2015 to fulfill the full 211?
