Been thinking about buying this game for a few weeks now. The only Civilization game I have played is Civilization Revolution and it was ok. The main thing I didn't like about it was how short the games were. You had X amount of time to win a game or it ended, you couldn't keep going at all.

Looked at some gameplay videos and Civ. V looks like it'd be a great buy but I don't want to buy it if it's just Civilization Revolution all over again where I can finish the game in an hour and a half.

So I guess my question to you guys is, is it much different in gameplay than Revolution or is it just around the same thing?

TIA

i've had some games in V go on for days. Not an issue here.

Different from Revolutions, make sure you get all the expansions for V though.

There is a turn limit but even with it on games are quite long. With it turned off you can play a single game for days.

I'm towards the end of a marathon game that I've been playing for 2 weeks now, spent over 10 hours on it already and I probably have another 2-3 left. This game has so many ways you can win, especially if you get the new expansion, that as soon as you finish a campaign you will launch right into the next one. I found that Revolutions was much more of a military game whereas civ V encourages building culture, religion, production and of course exploring and managing foreign relations. Get it now if you are even slightly intrigued by it.
