Honestly guys that are offended by this, how often have you been angry because the ref is taking too long for a play to start?
Its rare, and usually is happening inside of 2 minutes.
This comment is less than when they moved the refs around a couple years ago and Peyton Manning was complaining. He was upset because they would set the ball, then he'd have to wait for the ref to get behind him before he could snap it. If that didn't slow down offenses(which it didn't) then this isn't a problem. This isn't even rules changing, it is referees saying they'll continue to do what they have always done.

Right, but refs should adapt with the game, IMO.
I don't think "Well this is the way we've always done it" is any explanation when the question is, "Why can't you go faster to accommodate a perfectly legal operation?"
