There is a ton of ULL alumni money that goes to TAF and that is a shame

True but that money is sent to LSU to have access to tickets to see Bama, Florida, UGA, etc.

ULL will always be handicapped by the Sun Belt. A home schedule of Nichols, Texas State, New Mexico, Troy, and ULM doesn't exactly get the juices flowing and inspire contributions.

ULL's mistake was insisting on remaining division 1 years ago. Compete against SFA, Sam Houston, Southeastern, Nichols, McNeese, Northwestern, etc. That's your station. Dominate that level rather than forever be stuck at the bottom.

What's better? Finally getting a Sun Belt conference championship or winning an FCS national title? Will these facility improvements vault ULL all the way to the Beef O'Brady's Bowl?

As far as the state tax dollar contribution argument goes, given the current state of higher ed funding, I can understand the frustration from some folks who feel dumping money into the athletic budget of a sun belt school is a waste of resources.

Ah, the same ole "know your place" cry.

New facility improvements/enhancements are one-way tickets to better conferences so we don;t have to play teams like Nichols and Troy. They're your number one marketing tool in order for a program to grow. Plain and simple. If you look at schools who are moving to bigger and better conferences, take a look at each of their stadiums and facilities. Almost every single school went under a facility upgrade. And guess what? Most of them were STATE FUNDED. As of 2012, there were only 23 universities that were self-sufficient.

You think we would be able to attract teams like Boise State, Oklahoma State, or Kansas State to Lafayette by being FCS? No, because FBS schools don't travel to FCS schools.

Not to mention, being ranked in the preseason top 50 doesn't really consider you to be "stuck at the bottom." Like I mentioned in a previous post, there's always people who look at the negative side whenever another in-state school not named LSU tries to grow or improve themselves.
