Shepard Impressing at Eagles Camp

I know but it's really slow.

Cue up evals of our pass game for the last four years.

I'd love to see JJ and JL both get camp deals with the Jets.

I love RS for his dedication to LSU, but some of you fail to see reality, possibly due to all of the hype from his recruitment. It reminds me of App State fans here in NC, who fail to see that Armani Edwards is not a great receiver or punt returner.

All told, Shepard has probably been the Eagles' most prolific wide receiver since he arrived at the NovaCare Complex following the NFL Draft. That's because he's been relentless about catching hundreds of extra balls following practice every day. The rookie is fully aware that he has a long way to go in his fight for a roster spot.

Too bad he didn't work like that when he was a tiger.

There was one main thing RS was really good at, that was being in open space once he had the ball secured. If he some how got the ball, had enough time to turn around and take a step or 2, he would juke/run by or wiggle through tacklers, that was his one big skill.

Though, getting him the ball was the problem. Not physical enough to warrant a regular RB or WR spot, didn't have good enough hands to catch the ball consistently and of course when he was at RB every one knew he was getting the ball. Fumbles and dropped catches didn't help.

Lets put this to rest, Coach Miles gave him plenty of chances and RS worked very hard as well. Sometimes things just don't work out, I'm sure if we had a better QB, even RS would've caught those balls and made big gains, but we didn't. And if we ran the spread, RS could've been on the field a lot more, such that his talents would eventually shine. GREAT players, MAKE things happen.

I think both RS and Coach Miles get a pass for this situation. RS does have a second chance with a spread offense and a great QB, and if he truly was special he'll make something out of this. One of my favorite Tigers a humble and hard working young man, best of luck to him!
