is that a common debate here? From what i read in LA anything with less than 10hp doesnt have to be registered, thats why they make 9.9s which if just the 15 with s throttle stopper you can remove.

Texas is different and i think anything power driven has to be registered.

negative ghost rider. anything with a motor, including a trolling motor, must be registered and have numbers. That 9.9 stuff is for lake with 10HP limits.

I also used to think that PFDs were not necessary in paddlecrafts. Two tickets later and i know better.

From LDWF...I had to completely scrap a project that was trolling motor powered because I could not get it registered.
