Does Utley have the longevity to get in? No doubt the best hitting 2B of this generation and he was great in the field. Great power and very efficient base stealer. From 2005 to 2009 he OPS'd .922. But he hasn't played more than 115 games since then and he has just 1300 career hits. No MVPs to help his cause.

Two of his teammates won MVP's, and I thought Utley was the best player on the team.

He looks great so far this season.

Utley's numbers look a lot like Brandon Phillips, he just 3 years older and has 3 less gold gloves. And I've never considered Phillips HOF material.

CU .287/212/775 1352 hits 128 stolen bases
BP .272/160/682 1349 hits 156 stolen bases

The defensive metrics really overrate Utley's defense, inflating his WAR/JAWS. His counting stats aren't anywhere near where they need to be for him to get into the HOF.

David Wright has just as good of a resume right now (minus the ring) and he's four years younger than Utley. Utley has a long way to go.
