Brees was awesome before he was let go. Period. He was trending upwards. I'm not saying they're stupid for making the decision, but had they decided to keep him, the result IMO would have been Super BowlS

yep. The chargers were going to keep Brees and trade Rivers, but then Brees got hurt in the final game of the season (greatest day in saints history

No he wasn't. He had a terrible year in 03, a really good year in 04 and then a solid year in 05 that ended with a torn labrum. If I recall right, they still offered him a large contract, it just didn't have enough guaranteed money.
