Probably because he was pitching as well as he ever has in his career and his trade value produced a decent return. strop hasn't given up a run in a Cubs uniform.

Uh, Nate Schierholtz is playing his best ball of his career.

DeJesus doesn't have much trade value and is a leader for all the younger guys on the team. Front office knows they aren't going to get anything that would outweigh keeping him around to be a mentor for the younger guys.

MLB just showed all the scouts at the game and said Theo and Jed said no one is untouchable. First name they mention: DeJesus.

Lefty veteran bats always have value. DeJesus would be a nice piece for a contender. He doesn't need to be playing well to have value; he's proven.

I agree but I haven't said one single word about Nate in this entire thread. I wouldn't be opposed to trading him for something of value. The Pirates are supposedly interested. I have no clue what they would be able/willing to offer.

I realize what they have said about deJesus. They also said they would like to keep DeJesus in the same breath because of his ability to bring up younger players. I'm not saying they WON'T trade him. I said I don't think they will do it. I just don't see them getting enough for him to make it worth their while and I certainly don't think they are going to trade him just to make a move. We'll see what happens.
