I was at that show at City Park. From what I recall, I thought he was better than the Allmans that night.
Was lucky to have caught a SRV concert - he played on the President, the old riverboat in NO. Was a triple bill with SRV, Dr John and BB King. Around 1986, as part of the NO Jazz Fest weeknight concert series.

That is amazing, those three in one venue one night...
I like it all, I walked up and heard Little Freddie King playing at French Quarter Fest this year and thought he was great.
