An MLB source told CBS Evening News’ Jim Axelrod, however, that the five-time American League home-run champion could be looking at a lifetime ban.

So will the three-time American League MVP cut a deal with the league?

“My understanding is he’s trying to make a deal,” a source told the website. “But I don’t think it’s going to happen (Monday).”

A-Rod has admitted to using performance-enhancing drugs while with the Texas Rangers from 2001-03. The injured 37-year-old, who has denied using them since, told WFAN radio last week that he hasn’t instructed anyone to make a deal with the league “at this point” regarding a Biogenesis-related suspension.

But following Braun’s decision to cooperate with MLB investigators, A-Rod could end up changing his mind and taking the same route.

Also, the Players' Association would have to laugh their collective asses off at the MLB trying to ban him for life for this.

his career is already over, who gives a frick.

If MLB wanted to make a statement they would have one that to one of the younger guys like Braun or Cruz.

Sad to think this guy was one of the greatest players to ever come out of high school, and how he threw his career away with PEDs.

Yeah, they'll ban him now because no one gives a shite about him.

MLB's moral high ground on all the steroid stuff is obnoxious.

Yeah, "Braun is suspended for the rest of the year... now that the Brewers are irrelevant to 2013... even though this information has been readily available for at least months."

It's all posturing and stupid.

basically the Yankees are pushing behind closed doors for A-Rod to get banned so they don't have to pay the idiotic salary they gave him.

you know it, I know it, we all know it. He does not put enough butts in seats to justify that money at all. They don't want him around anymore.

its pretty weak shite and I can't f-ing stand A-Rod so its not like I'm on his corner.

The outrage abou steroids in baseball is absurd, IMO. Had it not been for the steroid era, MLB may not have made it past the millennium after the strike of the 94 season.

The HR races of the late 90's brought the fans back in droves. These particular players should have their own wing in Cooperstown , IMO. It is complete bullshite for MLB to turn their back on Sosa, McGwire, Bonds, Clemens, Rodrigue, etc. Everyone in that era was juicing. You juiced or the game passed you by. A player has to maintain a competitive edge making those insane salaries in some form or fashion.

I also think the two worst decisions in MLB ever are Chipper Jones not getting ROTY in 95 and Pete Ross not being in the HOF. MLB casting a shadow in the steroid era is now third in my book.
