You still don't get it. That extra $5 isn't going to the developer. They sell the discs to the stores (whether brick and mortar or online retailers) at a set wholesale price. The retailers then set the prices. If you want to pay more for the same product, go ahead, but don't expect the rest of us to hop on because you are stupid enough to believe some developers sob story propaganda.

No you obviously don't get it. When you buy a used game over a new game then that is one less copy the publisher and devs move and one less they get paid on. So in a sense you saving $5 on a used game actually cost them more since their license fee per game is more than $5.

Yes, but once stock and inventory go down, they request more shipments from the publisher. That's how they get more money. If people choose to buy new version over used, they have to replenish that new stock. While you're directly putting the money towards the publisher/developer, it's the only way to support them at retail.
