After about 10 inches down pure clay. There's a pit dug on top of hill on land next to me couple hundred yards from mine that hold water year round with no run off to it. All work is being done free because of huge house pad and shop being built up hugh down the road by same man thats doing mine. Guy digging has done many in the area and all have turned out good

If those sides are as sandy as they look, you may want have a layer of clay spread along the side to keep water from migrating horizontally and the sides sloughing in.

If the sides have sufficient clay, then you're golden!
