Harry really did frick up. Deb is the true psychopath, not Dexter.

This season really isn't doing it for me. Vogel was alright at the beginning but it's getting more stupid every episode.

I hope I am not correct but I think this is how it's going to shake out. Dex is Subject 0. All these other subjects are Vogel's projects. She encourages them and hones their skills.
Now she is dying and is having Subject 0 (Dexter)eliminate them. She is also counseling Deb to have her eliminate Dexter once he is finished so that all of her projects are now complete.

The writing on this thing just gets more and more preposterous.
Dex finds a girl with blood spurting out of her chest - "he must have nicked her pulmonary artery and put pressure on it so she wouldnt die" - holy shite - 1 - you dont "nick" a major central vessel in the chest on purpose without opening up the chest - 2 - it is not possible to put pressure on a pulmonary artery without opening the chest - 3 - it could never spurt out like that from so deep in the chest. Then he dumps her off anonymously at a hospital while hemorrhaging massively - you have got to be kidding me. She'll be just fine.
Deb snoops around for a DVD (instantly deciphering Vogels cataloging system - she is a great detective after all ) puts one in, and it happens to pop up right at the point where Harry says he cant take it anymore.
She resolves to kill Dexter (came down main street), and swerves the car into a lake. The slowest sinking car in history then takes it time, while she is rescued and dragged to shore. She not only regains consciousness, but instantly becomes an olympic swimmer and dives to break out and save the unconscious body of the much larger Dex after her miraculous instant recovery.
It has been this way for a few seasons now. The writing is just insanely lazy. Or they are just trolling the audience to see what they can get away with.
I keep watching this because it was such a cool premise and well made the first couple of seasons, but damn its just insulting now.

I keep watching because I wasted so much of my life watching earlier seasons (which, you're right about the cool premise) so I have to see how it all ends. Much like Weeds (ugh) and HIMYM

Season 7 was pretty good. I like how after one episode in which people say is bad, the weekly thread turns into the typical "omg why am i watching" crap that pollutes this board with about 90% of the shows discussed here. If we're being honest here we've had to somewhat suspend believeablity since season one. I mean, how many times has Dexter avoided being caught in some form or fashion by literal seconds? Too many to count. Not to mention that the only two people who were ever on to him ended up murdered?

The extreme laziness of the scripts the last few seasons has rarely been mentioned here (except a few times by me). I dont read the thread every week, but usually when I click it there are a lot of people praising this thing like its in a league with real high quality shows.

Obviously. Good writing makes this easy for the viewer. We should feel like it is totally reasonable for him to get away with this stuff in the universe they create. This was the case in the first couple of seasons. But the coincidences and preposterous situations and miracles are just out of control.
I think they are going for campy kitsch at this point. They essentially make no attempt to create believability. Lazy to the max.

Bunch of Dexter haters up in here.
Deb is a horrible character. Extent of the criticism I choose to levy. My brain is turned off during this show.

Of course it's unrealistic, Dex should have been caught/killed 17898736363 times by now.
I'm excited for the end

They're acting like this is the Following or something. You have to stretch reality a bit with pretty much any non-fiction. Dexter doesn't make it that hard

it would have been great tv if we watched her looking through the files and fast forwarding to the right parts for 11 hours.

Give it a fricking rest. Maybe the writers assumed you were smart enough to know that had to have happened and didn't want to waste time showing it. Maybe you're not smart enough though

she looked for the last DVD there. not really ground breaking stuff.
