not that long ago Tennessee was a powerhouse. Things change in CFB

Tennessee has not been anywhere close to Florida's level during the entire era of divisional play, a stretch of 21 years and counting. By pretty much any measure of performance, Florida has outperformed Tennessee over the last 50 years. Demographics suggest that's not going to change any time in the foreseeable future. Sure, there may be the occasional year (or even a couple) when Tennessee is better, just like there is the occasional year when Ole Miss is better than LSU (as recently as 2008, for example), but long term, Tennessee has as much chance of outperforming Florida as Ole Miss has of outperforming LSU.

So, it's OK for LSU to be at a distinct disadvantage in the division race every year because it's "tradition"? We should play Georgia, Tennessee, South Carolina, Vanderbilt, Kentucky and Missouri less often than we play North Texas and Appalachian State just to preserve the "tradition" of the Florida game? What kind of reason is that?

How many more Herschel Walkers, Bo Jacksons and Peyton Mannings should come through the SEC and never play LSU to keep this sacred "tradition" of the Florida game?

I love the Florida game. Almost all LSU fans do. But is it worth what we have to give up to keep it? I don't think so.
