sometimes really good coaches can get in to a rut and need to move on to regain that perspective and edge.

Or just do it like Payton and take a seat for a year.
I'm trying to think of another football coach that left the game for a year and came back a hell of a lot better.

Belichick between the browns and pats? He was still an asst. during that time though.

There arent many examples of coaches that left on top if their game and then came back. Jimmy Johnson is one, and we know how that turned out.

I look at a guy like Andy Reid. Great coach who i really think needed to move on and start over. we'll see how that pans out.

Most coaches who leave and come back were either fired or they are past their prime.

This is unprecedented for a guy at the very top of the game to be out for a year and then come right back to the same team, QB, etc.

He will be better. Much better.
