. I just pointed out your factual error -- he has been arrested and convicted (just last week!).
As I said we were talking about things after the trophy was voted on, as factors to strip Manziel of his award. Has he been accused of violating any laws since December 2012?
His conviction/plea deal may have been last week but I'm pretty sure voters knew this was one of the possible outcomes when they voted. You think the Heisman Trust would consider this as a reason?

I also pointed out attacking May does not actually refute his points
What were his points? That Manziel is "shaming the game"? That's not a point that's an opinion. If I'm going to use a persons opinion to form some type of judgement of another person, then I feel his past deeds are more than fair game.

So, i think since we're attacking media members in this thread, the Advocate's similar conduct over similar charges were relevant
They were relevant to your opinion of the Advocate and that's about it.

No. For the third time, I think it would be stupid to strip him of the Heisman. I agree with you there. Now you're revising your statement, but the initial comment you made was in reply to Soph, who was making the case that Johnny Football is an embarrassment. You said it's not like he's been arrested which is, I've pointed out, not true. He has been. This is unrelated to the silly arse Heisman argument he threw out.
I agree with your larger point, I was just pointing out that he had indeed been arrested. And he was convicted just a few days ago, which is newsworthy, and relevant to the discussion of whether Manziel is bringing shame to the game.

His points were the ones I largely disagreed with and you refuted elsewhere. It is possible for me to agree with your larger point and disagree with you on the details, my hypersensitive friend. He made an argument. And yes, opinions are points. They are not distinct. You use facts to build to a larger point, or opinion. I disagreed with your fact, but agreed with your larger opinion.
I also disagree that his past sins are fair game. It's an ad hominem attack, and it just makes your argument look weaker than it is. Why do it? I think your argument is strong enough without denying facts and making logical fallacies.
I think Manziel should enjoy this time. It will be the best time of his life, and he gets a rare chance to be a near godlike figure. Live it up. Don't kill anyone or anything, but have a good time. I disagree with May, too. I just thought you overstated your case.
