bullreds have officially made their way into the pass. anchor out on the west side of the pass, chunk a cracked crab and hang on

Jimbeam - Taking the family down to GI this weekend. Will target specks in the am early but want to try to get them on a red or two. I hear this alot about reds in the pass but are they talking near the bridge, or actually near the gulf interface; middle, towards the banks or all of the above? Any tips would be helpful - never fished for bull reds like this. I assume cracked crab or a minnow on the bottom?? Thanks in advance for any help!

If you go out the marinas, towards the gulf through the pass, you'll see boats on either side. It gets shallow(relative to the pass) here. Usually anchor out along the bank somewhat and cast towards the middle. Reds will hit bait along the dropoff. Just follow everyone else. can't miss it

I know everybody swears by cracked crab but I have had much more success with cut mullet. And the post above is dead on. Cast into the drop-off. Rod in rod holder. Beer in hand.
