Didn't this message board say a few years ago that LM doesn't play freshman?? Now we are relying on freshman to step and not only play but compete against the rest of the SEC??

Didn't read this whole thread, but my response to the OP's question:

What keeps you dominant is dominant talent. Dominant talent generally leaves early. Teams that are consistently dominant will consistently lose talent early. But they stay dominant by recruiting more dominant talent. If you're not losing talent early as a matter of routine, you are probably not dominant. So, to answer the question - yes, as long as LSU keeps recruiting dominant talent.

That is an interesting theory, but I don't see how it applies well to last year's squad. Was last year's team dominant? I will venture to say that the defense was dominant at times, but a defense rarely makes a whole team. How about Special Teams? Offense is a definite no. Some of the talent you lost underperformed last season. Based on 2012's results alone, LSU did not lost much dominant talent.

It's difficult to call any program in the SEC dominant nowadays. Alabama has done a good job of dominating the West Division teams not named LSU. I'll call LSU even with Alabama, but other than that would you call LSU dominant within the division? How about the conference? The SEC has too many good teams now, and those 1-hit wonders (2010 Auburn, 2012 Texas A&M) for any program to truly be on top. No one's truly dominant. Alabama's program is as close as it gets.

He said in the sec.

2010. 6-2. 5-3
2011. 8-0. 7-1
2012. 6-2. 7-1

LSU. 20-4. Bama 19-5

Problem is bama leads in crystal 2-0 in the last 3 years

34-6 vs 35-5 that's one hell of a gap you got there..

He said best record in the SEC and Bama is in the SEC. And how big of a gap was not mentioned, he ask for best record.

But if you want to reword it to say "against the SEC" then you do have a point. But I would rather lose to SEC than ACC. Did you see how ugly that Mascot from Clemson was/is.

But yes we both have pretty good damn teams.

Yes overall, but the question was SEC record. Official SEC games-LSU is 21-4, Bama 20-5, including unofficial SEC games 21-5, 21-5.

Yeah I don't think this is really affecting just LSU. To me it's helping so many guys leave early. That allows Miles to rotate so many guys in to get experience. This allows our freshman and sophomores to be so much more game ready than just about anyone in the country. Because to be honest, unless a kid is just plain raw and it's a guarantee he won't contribute, redshirts are a waste nowadays. With the new compensation scale for the draft, kids are still leaving despite not getting 1st or 2nd round grades

Regarding bama players coming back for fourth year:

It really depends on whether they are projected in the first round. Bama won't match first round money but second and third rounders really have to look at the compensation difference and whether it is enough to justify losing that fourth year of their rec contract. The amount of their buyout may be a factor as well.

The 3 and out is the new way it will be for the elite programs. Similar to the recent trend of 1 and out in basketball. I think LSU just caught the very first wave of this new trend. Theres just too much money to lose if u have an excellent year 3 and will be a high draft pick. Miles is on record saying that he encourages the 3 and out recruit. He wants to recruit kids that can see the field as freshmen and contribute immediately.
