Because drafting 3 straight superstars in the lottery is almost impossible. Otherwise the Bobcats, Kings, Wizards, etc. wouldn't be there every year.

Line up 1024 people.
Give them all a quarter. They flip it 10 times.
Each time you get a "head," you take a step forward.
Likely 1 or 2 people take all 10 steps forward.
Let's says one is named "Frank."
Flipping a coin 10 times in a row, taking a step forward when you get "heads" is now called the "Frank Model" because it worked once, and basically had to.
We'll just ignore the other 1023 losers doing the same thing.
It's model? No. It's maximizing the opportunity that luck brought you.
