You might be surprised how many states have laws against both adultery and sodomy on the books.

Kind of like illegal aliens and Obama , they just look the other way and have for many years.

I honestly don't see how this is any different than heterosexual couples who get married by a JOP. What's the prolonged argument about?

Crazy should look at that.

I just googled on adultery and apparently it's still illegal in 23 states. That is backwards as frick.

Colorado abolished their adultery law this year.

Which have been overturned based on the supremacy clause and 14th amendment. Next legal fallacy.

The 10 commandments aren't a solid basis for a legal system considering enforceing 1,2,3,4 would violate the 1st amendment. the 10th commandment also seems to enforce. How can you tell who is coveting?

But while we're talking leviticus, how do you feel about

Lev 19:26 “‘Do not eat any meat with the blood still in it.

“‘Do not practice divination or seek omens.

Lev 19:27 “‘Do not cut the hair at the sides of your head or clip off the edges of your beard."

Lev 19:28 “‘Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the Lord.

Why did these rules get dropped.

What people who are pushing for gay marriage don't get about churches is that churches are there to set moral boundaries. Those boundaries should not twist in the wind to suit the latest polling data. God gave us Ten Commandments, not a few pretty good ideas that we ought to try once in a while when it's convenient for us.
Marriage is a secular contract sanctioned by a secular government. That's what same sex couples are after. It has nothing to do with anyone's religion, and to think otherwise is narcissistic.

Adultery, an ancient. crime that remains on many books.

When David H Patraeus resigned as director of the CIA. because of adultery he was widely understood to be acknowledging a misdeed, not a crime.Yet in his state of residence, Virginia, as in many other states (22) adultery remains a criminal act, a vestige of the way American law has anchored legitimate sexually activity within marriage.

In Idaho,Massachusetts, Michigan, Oklahoma and Wisconsin it is a felony.

As far as the sodomy laws, I didn't realize the court had actually overturned an earlier 1960ish ruling ( something they rarely do ) and in 2003 had reveresed an earlier ruling ( SCOTUS ) that ultimately. got rid of the laws of sodomy in the last 14 states.

SO I AM RIGHT ONLY 99.8 PERCENT OF THE TIME.
DEAL WITH IT.......

Dude don't even bother. They'll claim that the Old Testament isn't applicable anymore under Christian doctrine (which it largely isn't, so that's not a big deal), but then spit out how Jesus wouldn't contradict what God taught and the only place in the bible that specifically mentions things against homosexuality are in the Old Testament.

Marriage is a purely religious term and should have no business being in a gov't's vocabulary. What same sex couples are after is the right to enter into a contract with each other and I support that cause. Govt cannot discriminate in the public sector.

Marriage should be left to the private sector.

re: What churches simply dont get on Gay Marriage
Are you saying that the 2003 case overturned a SCOTUS decision that eliminated sodomy laws or they overturned an earlier decision and, as a result, the 2003 decision eliminated sodomy laws?

Intimate relations between gay adults are protected under your 5th amendment right to privacy (Lawrence v. Texas) through the 14th amendment. Those state laws are unconstitutional.

Not it isn't. Marriage began as a secular contract in which a male would take a female away from her family to care for her (one less mouth to feed) in return for a "dowry" (payment) from the father.
