I don't think San Antonio set an unusual pattern that would be treated as a blueprint. Yes, they lucked into Duncan as the Pels lucked into Davis. Still, Duncan is pretty safely the best PF in the history of the game and Tony Parker is HOF-possible. It's rough to compare any players to those two, let alone two young players.
Having a strong inside player and a strong PG is how most every NBA team that doesn't have LeBron or Kobe tries to build themselves.
