Why would she catch grief for that comment? We live in such a touchy feely world that it sickens me at times.

Aren't you guys being a bit touchy feely yourselves.
I think it is great that the days are gone where certain people could be talked to and treated anyway with no repercusions. In my house, growing up, it was taught it is not a burden to treat others with respect. It was expected. Being concerned with others' feelings was a virtue not a vice.
