Teen movies by the decade

So a guy and I are talking and we both grew up in the 80's and were teens in the 90's.
We got to talking about those movies that represent teens in the decade. Every decade had them. For the 80's it was Fast Times at Ridgemont High or The Breakfast Club for teen angst.
And even though Dazed and Confused came out in 93, and had lots of transcendent things in it, it was still set in the 70's.
We finally concluded that...Can't Hardly Wait is the best thing the 90's has to offer in this genre.
So if someone said to me "What movie symbolizes the 90's the best?", I would have to reply with Can't Hardly Wait.
American Pie is a tough one. Plus it is much more of a straight comedy.
What say you?

Can't Hardly Wait is the best teen film of all time.
That's right.
That's right.

For me, The Faculty is a fun/scary/sci-fi flick that symbolizes the 90's best.

Clueless was my favorite, Can't hardly wait was a little corny for me.

The 80's had tons of movies that fit this bill. For me, I'd put 16 Candles above Breakfast Club, just because it shows more personality types.
I'd tend to agree with Can't Hardly Wait for the 90's in terms of teen movies...though since I'm a little older Singles was my 90's movie.

90's list.
If my kids wanted a list of movies that best represented the 90's, from the music, to the clothes to the dialogue...I'd have them watch these:
Scream (1996)
The Faculty
10 things I hate about you
American Pie
Can't hardly wait
I know what you did last summer

American Pie came out when I was in High School. Alot of my time in high school was spent pursuing the exact same things.
That being said, I'd agree with Cant Hardly Wait.
IMO, the best movie to capture life as a teenager was Ferris Buellers Day Off. It is timeless and relevant to any generation thinking back at their time as a teenager. Ferris is the guy we all wish we were.

I think Empire Records deserves some mention in this thread
Amazing to me that that movie is 18 years old
