Read the comic "Injustice: Gods Among Us" for what Superman is capable of doing if he's pushed and feels he has no other option.
I know it's not canon, but in that version, the Joker turned Lois (and her unborn child) into the trigger for a nuclear bomb which destroyed Metropolis, then used the Scarecrow's fear toxin to make Superman think she was Doomsday.
Basically, in that version, he did to Superman what he couldn't do to Batman...push him over the edge. Supes responds by punching through the Joker's heart and it gets worse from there.

That comic book series was specifically written to be the premise of a video game created by NetherRealm (Mortal Kombat games). I wouldn't invest too much thought into that as a basis for what Superman is capable of.
