1980 was the game LSU 24 Tulane 7! It was sickening all week if you were a Tiger Fan. Tulane had Nickie "Long Ball" "Hall for Heisman" and whatever. All week on TV they had Dave Dixon and all the Tulane nuts. Tulane just knew they were going to beat LSU in Tiger Stadium. At work the Tulane people ran their mouths all week and got louder and louder as Saturday got closer. This was Stovall's first year as Head Coach. Come Saturday it rained its arse off. I was working and a Doctor Friend of mine called me at work and said he was not going because of the rain. He gave me his 50 yard line Tickets. I wore my big Rain Coat from work with a Hood. Big yellow Rain Coat I looked like Big Bird. Risher had a big night in the 24-7 win for LSU. He passed for over 200 yards in a Rain Storm. The Band marched and got soaked. At the end there were only maybe 25,000 LSU Fans remaining and they were loud as hell. Everyone had a big time. Tulane said the game did not count because of the rain. LSU ended 7-4 that year. The most fun I had at any LSU/Tulane Game.
