If you decide to go with a guide, try Capt. Craig Matherne. Really nice guy.
You could literally keep moving down the beach all the way to Venice till you find fish. If there's tide, and the wind isn't crazy, you'll catch.
If you go back into barataria bay, look for the Independance Island Reef. I think they did a resto project and there are mooring bouys. Not sure how the fishing is now, but it used to be awesome. Quess Bless/Bess?, Bassa Bassa Bay, Saturday Island, Oyster reefs (marked by white poles) behind 4 Bayous.
