LSU didn't look good against Jack state, Sam Houston nor UL. it finally caught up to them...end of story

NCAA Regional
Jackson St. . W, 11-7
Sam Houston St. W, 8-5
UL-Lafayette W, 5-1

NCAA Super Regional
#19 Oklahoma W, 2-0 (top pitcher taken in the draft)
#19 Oklahoma W, 11-1

OK. LSU might not have dominated in the regional, but they still drove in enough runs to go 3-0 despite some errors against SHS and shaky pitching against JSU.

LSU hit the ball hard in the CWS, but because of shallow outfielders the bloop singles and looping hits to the gap were pop flies. The outfielders can play shallow because few balls are hit hard enough with velocity to get over their heads on a line, and the towering hits are knocked down by either the wind or the neutered bats can't get them over the wall.

The game has been diminished, but small ball strategy is more exciting to you?

If I'm not mistaken, there's still only been 2 homeruns through what, 10 games so far? These are supposed to be the top teams in college baseball. Don't you think there should be more homeruns than that?

I think everyone is jumping to conclusions that the game is ruined or that this isn't baseball.

Baseball has ups and downs...

I mentioned Arizona last year...how much they outscored their opponents and their opponents were looking like this year's "small-ball" opponents by going 0,0,1 in three of their games.

Yet Zona had plenty of offense in TD park? Scoring 28 runs...on their way to the title in 5 games. That's 5.5 runs a game...that's regular baseball.

...and Arizona became the first team ever to score at least 15 runs in every Regional game. They were the first team since Arkansas in 2009 to score 10 or more runs in every Regional game.

Now maybe the ball is different this exact year...but teams can still produce a lot of runs since the bat switch.

It isn't just the bat switch. Teams still produce runs all year with the bats. You obviously missed the entire point.

No I think everyone is seeing balls get crushed that don't travel over 380 ft. The only home runs are pulled down the line. I have never seen outfielders play so shallow. The NCAA screwed the pooch with these bats. The game sucks now.

Pitchers have absolutely no fear anymore. In the 90s any hitter could go yard. Now all the pitchers look like aces. There is a happy medium and that is the 2009 bats.

Serious question has there been test data showing the reaction of the balls off of these bats compared to wooden bats?

I would think so. Balls hit on the sweet spot with BBCOR don't come off as hot as wood IMO.

Kyle Peterson hasn't gone an inning without mentioning the lack of home runs, or the lack of pop off the bats. It's not just lsu fans. I sincerely hope the final game is won 1-0 in the bottom of the 16th on a intentional walk passed ball.

Thanks for the laugh! That would be perfect way to end a dull event!

This has nothing to do with LSU people, its the game in general!!! I have always enjoyed watching the CWS even when LSU wasn't in it, but this small ball strstegy is the only thing you can do now, it shouldn't be!!

Agreed. I miss the offense where teams would put up football scores (21-14) in a game.

They could always move in the field about 30ft all the way around and we wouldn't be eliminated. Not gonna happen though.
