Father in law is flying us down the second week in August to Islamorada for lobster season. I'm plan on doing some fishing as well but not sure if I should go offshore or stay in, and what should I expect to catch. Also if anyone has fished with a charter down there I'm open to recommendations.

If we can't fish where we want to, then the terrorists have won.

Tarpon and Bonefish.

It's a beautiful key and not very far from Miami.

Not really. There are a lot of places in America that I don't care to walk at night. Doesn't mean the gangstas have won.

Hire a tarpon charter, you will not be disappointed!

Also you need to go to Robbie's if you have never been there... buy a bucket of bait and feed the tarpon with your hands.. then eat lunch there.. The seafood platter at that restaurant is awesome.

it's the best & most diverse fishing place in the United States (and possibly the entire world). If you could only fish out of 1 place for the rest of your life, islamorada should be everyone's choice.

Best lobster I ever had was some we caught down there last year. I'd do a flats charter and an offshore charter if you have the time/funds. If not, do flats. Tarpon, snook, bonefish, permit, it's awesome. They run charters out of the World Wide Sportsman. I'd stop in there and ask some of the old dudes who work there who they'd recommend.
