Also, the ump stared into the dugout and PM said shite was coming from the stands and to stop staring at the dugout.
I did catch this. I don't know if PM did his post game but I was hoping he would call the guy out and take his fine if he had too.

He was a bitch. I didn't catch that his cheerful chatter with the UNC player was to laugh about how badly we wanted that call. How the frick is that an impartial official with the way he conducted himself? Ridiculous
eta: What pisses me off most is nothing worth a damn will even be said about it or noted about the strike zone, so this pac 12 piece of shite will continue on to do this to the next team he doesn't like.

quote:This. UNC deserved to win. But the ump made inconsistent calls at critical times that really hurt us in a low scoring game.
The ump was definitely in our pitchers head.
Both big hits we gave up today were after a couple of pretty questionable calls that would have rung batters up. It was bullshite, especially because it wasn't consistent.

He had an ego which is the worst thing an ump can have. He was a bitch.
He called a pretty good game but he gave UNC a strike 3 call 8 inches off the plate then squeezed Cotton all in the 7th.
Then ump gave the UNC pitcher a high strike call the first pitch of Ross' at bat in the 8th. The ump made that call to stick it to Ross. His ego was out of control.

Meh...his calls on the edges were a coin flip for both temas. It was frustrating as hell. I don't care if your zone it tight, just call the damn game consistently.

Manieri was giving the ump an earful when the ump was squeezing us but not a lot else he could do.

Peterson said the same thing and I thought the same damn thing about that strike. These umps need to be held accountable when they start acting unprofessionally. Mattingly's unprofessionalism was blasted all over ESPN.

Dude was a douche he consistently gave uncs pitcher 2 to 3 inches off the plate and the shin high strike. He squeezed bonvillain and cotton and they both still kept us in the game. Btw I caught for 13 years ross wasn't even close to showing him up just like Peterson said only way to show up an umpiire is to turn around.

The strike zone has consistently been inconsistent.
The computer strike zone has shown this to be true more often than it should.
For a pure pitchers ballpark, the BBCOR bats, and the watered down balls, there is no way a liberal strike zone should be in effect.
I hate to give our undisciplined hitters any excuses after witnessing what we saw the last two games, but with such an erratic zone, I could almost understand their frustration.
If UNC's pitcher had effectively worked the zone Maddux-like, it would be understandable. But, this cat was all over the place, and getting the calls.
What I was more bothered by was his instructions to a batter that he wouldn't get the call on a HBP if he stuck his elbow out like that, and other similar type comments that were made during the course of play. That kind of shite effects play and is BS.
If he wants to pass out that kind of advice between innings to a coach, maybe so. But, in the middle of an AB he's proposing hypotheticals to the participants?
He must have roots in SEC officiating.

Ross needs to let his coach handle it. Players bitching at umpires ain't the way to go

Was the ump out of line, abso-f*cking-lutely. is NorthshoreTiger right yep. Bottom line when you argue balls and strikes you are going to lose that argument every time.

Didn't Peterson also call out the ESPN producers for airing it? I thought he said something about it being unprofessional and the viewers should not hear that kind of chatter

Just getting back to my hotel room. Does anyone have a link to the chatter between Ross and the umpire or the umpire and the UNC player? TIA
Posted on 6/18/13 at 11:34 pm to LC412000
nah but ill summarize. The unc catcher went behind the dish and he jokingly tells the catcher they wanted me to call you out on the pitch but it was outside. The catcher laughs and says oh how far was it and he jokingly says something along the lines of not close. You then here the field umpires talking and he says it was a good call it was just outside i believe. You then here the home plate ump as he goes to dust the plate off after squeezing our pitcher he tells ross if i here anything else from you you won't be catching long in this game and something about showing him up.

catchers always argue balls and strikes and talk to the ump throughout the game

What i was getting at is he seemed really friendly with their catcher the whole game and pissed on ours, including in his at bats.

The bolded areas should tell you everything you need to know about this cat's ability to umpire a game in the CWS

That's more of a batter talking shite to the ump though. Ross held on to the ball a few times, and the ump was gonna throw him out?
bullshite.
And again, we lost because we left 400 runners on base.
But the ump was a bitch.
