Did the home plate ump seem out of line?

I taped the game and didn't get any updates and just finished watching. Sorry if discussed before.......
Blue was constantly bitching at Ross and even got caught telling the UNC catcher 'LSU' really wanted the last pitch that was a fricking strike.
You could even catch Ross tell him what did Blue want him to do when he threatened to throw him out.
I thought the dude was an a-hole and totally out of line.

I felt like since he was mic'd he thought he had to put on some sort of show

He said Ross was "showing him up". Not sure what he meant other than groaning about calls maybe. Even Peterson said the ump was out of line for saying that

don't argue balls and strikes it is a rule. Umps don't like it when you do

I hate when umps think the spotlight needs to be on them. Usually run into this more in the majors but this ahole showed up in our game today.

he was a bitch and the peterson (i believe it was him) called him out when they were playing the "sounds" from the game and caught him on mic talking to ross as he wiped the plate

I get you don't argue strikes, but the only time Ross mabey showed him up was when he was going to throw to 3rd on what he thought was a strikeout.
If you don't think the catcher talks to the ump you have never played ball.
Ump just seemed like he had a big ego. Pissed me off catching him on the mike. It was every inning

he was definitely being a bitch. he could have told Ross to cut down on the chatter, but he went way further than that.

What exactly was said? I seemed to have missed it. Walked around the house a lot to calm the nerves.

I was a catcher til I was 17. Was constantly talking to the ump. What did he like about that pitch, what did he not like about another one. Then I'm discussing with my pitcher between innings what the umps putting in my ear.

If an ump is a piece of shite the head coach has to go out there call him a mother fricker and kick dirt on him.

He said if Ross didn't shut up, he wasn't going to be catching very long today.

Used to umpire quite a bit. Nothing wrong with cheerful conversation between catcher, umpire, but I was taught early on by a former major league player that an umpire should see himself as a guest of both teams, honored to be able to call their game, and that an umpire should 'serve' the teams and the game and not expect to be served by either.
These a-holes today seem to want to showboat and determine the outcome. I see it more in basketball, rarely in football although incompetence seems to be bad in all three major sports now.

Ump essentially told Ross he had heard enough from him and that he was giving him his last warning and one more word he would be gone.

The ump was definitely in our pitchers head.
Both big hits we gave up today were after a couple of pretty questionable calls that would have rung batters up. It was bullshite, especially because it wasn't consistent.

Didn't Peterson also call out the ESPN producers for airing it? I thought he said something about it being unprofessional and the viewers should not hear that kind of chatter.

Like I said, I just watched the game and I was by myself at the house.
Every inning you could pick up the ump saying shite to Ross, sometime just cause he double clutched throwing back to the pitcher.

That's some BS. My problem with the guy is he seemed to have a strike zone for each team. I may be wrong due to my bias I admit however...

I kept waiting for PM to go out there and stop that shite.
Also, the ump stared into the dugout and PM said shite was coming from the stands and to stop staring at the dugout.
Blue was a total a-hole. And I'm not saying we lost because of it either. Just thought he was a total a-hole

I started a thread about this during the game.
First of all, the only reason we even know about this is because the ump was mic'ed up. He didn't stop the game or call attention to himself at any point.
However, about three times he pretended to clean home plate when he was actually telling Ross to shut up. Now, that kind of stuff happens all the time, but the issue I had was that almost every single borderline pitch early I'm the count was called a strike for the UNC pitcher. LSU hitters were put behind in the count in the same pitches that were called balls when Ross was catching. Ross may have said something, but I think his body language (holding the ball at the spot longer than normal) let the ump know that he disagreed with the call.
