Anyone know much about these jobs? Just looking into maybe relocating closer to home.

Not much to know... You'll be an instrument tech. You'll calibrate control systems, run wiring, pm equipment, etc. not a bad gig but you'll be outside a lot in a plant. Not many people are cut out for shift work in a plant

Instrument techs generally calibrate and repair transmitters, controllers, analyzers and program logic systems. I went to school for instrumentation but have been in ops since finishing school. Our techs work 4-10's, Monday through Friday, as do most plants. We have two techs that follow the shift schedule but only work the day rotations. Pay will be from mid to upper $30's. Good job overall, nothing strenuous but you will have to work in the elements from time to time.
