That's awesome....like a propane tank swap for my grill. How hard is it to swap?

Didn't think of it that way. How does Tesla intend to set up the electric car charging and swap station infrastructure? Existing fueling stations? Super centers?

Wonder if they can make this work for other cars too....like the Volt or the Leaf. Interchangeable batteries in the future maybe? I bet they could partner with GM or Toyota and gain that interchangeability and economies of scale in the future.

I wonder how much labor is involved in a swap.

I think that may put tesla out of business if they have a universal battery replacement between the majors. Does tesla really produce a better car or are they just a first mover in a niche market?

According to Musk at a shareholders meeting a few weeks ago, he claims that they were going to announce a way to "recharge" the Model S's power supply faster than the average gas station fill up. I guess we'll see at the demo.
