$35 for 2 tanks at Walmart yesterday.
Last weekend I had one refilled in Hammond for $25
There's only one place close to my house that charges per lb instead of a "refill charge"

Read the fine print on your exchanges, they cut back how much propane they put in the exchange bottles to get the price down. At a hardware store you get the full 5 gal, at an exchange I think there down to 4.5. still the same price per gal, would rather get a full bottle so it will last longer!

Yeah it's like 65 to 70% for exchange, meanwhile the Mexican at the RV place will pump the tank full or over 90%.

Isn't there a difference in the actual product as well? I could swear that I heard that the stuff you get from a hardware store/U-Haul is 100% propane, but the Blue Rhino stuff is some kind of mix.

Don't you know Walmart gets their propane from the blood, sweat and tears of 6 year old Chinese boys and girls?

Heartless.

No it's not, you get more gas when refilling, the exchange bottles aren't topped off .....

Thought that was common knowledge.

Chances are, if you spend money and think you're sticking it to the man, you're wrong and the man is laughing at you.

Place by my house charges by the pound as well.

I don't always wait until its completely empty. Think it was $13.00 the last time I had one filled.

I read somewhere that the BTU value of the Rhino Tanks was lower than the standard re-fill at the hardware store option. That can be huge right there.

I had one of the RV size bottles filled back in the fall and I think it was like 25.

This. A 5 gallon tank when full should be at 50lbs unless it is a RV tank. Those are more weight empty.

There is a bright side of exchanging out tanks. All tanks need to be inspected every 10 years. They now push/check the date of inspection. Bad tank? Exchange it.
