quote:And Jack was much more competitive when he wasn't winning his majors. An additional 19 2nds and 9 3rds.
Jack won his over a 23 year span, which means Tiger will have to win a major a year to surpass Jack. Jack at this same point in his career only won 3 more majors
Jack put himself in position to win at the majors much more than Tiger has to date.
Considering Tiger isn't by far better than everyone anymore, he isn't going to win every time he gets near the top. I see Tiger being more like Phil at this point in his career than the Tiger of old.

Here is a list of players whose careers tiger will have to match or exceed in order to get to 19.
Byron Nelson
Seve Ballesteros
James Braid
John Henry
Peter Thomson
Phil Mickelson
Raymond Floyd
Willie Anderson
Ernie Els
Jim Barnes
Bobby Locke
Tom Morris, Sr.
Tom Morris, Jr.
Willie Park, Sr.
Jimmy Demaret
Cary Middlecoff
Ralph Guldahl
Billy Casper
Vijay Singh
Hale Irwin
Julius Boros
Payne Stewart
Larry Nelson
Tommy Armour
James Anderson
Henry Cotton
Bob Ferguson
Pádraig Harrington
Nick Price
Denny Shute
Their entire careers, but tiger will have to match them in likely an 8 year span at the end of his career.
I mean, I guess it could happen. But it's a long shot.

No, I don't think so. His putter is failing him, and it's what used to keep him in the lead. Unless he can fix that, he might have a hard time winning another major.
