Hi Guys,

I'm probably asking a stupid question but here goes.

Let's say I get paid on the 1st and the 15th. If I plan on leaving my job at the end of the month, this month, will I just get 1 pay check or 2 on the 1st of July?

I think I am just getting 1 but I can't recall if when working a 1/15th pay schedule you work 2 weeks then you get paid after the second 2 weeks.

Trying to plan my budget for next month.

I would think you would get a normal pay check and it would be just for the time worked

Not a stupid question at all. It can be a pretty important one.

Dunno. Your question is very reasonable but we have no idea what your employer's policy is. Honestly, you need to talk with HR and find out. You should get paid out but we have no clue about the timing.

Does your previous employer pay in arrears or current?

You will get one check on the day you leave the company for the amount that is due to you. I believe this is the law - they have to pay you on the day you leave.

That was not the case when I resigned from my job in LA. I got paid on the normal date plus another paying me for my unused vacation time.

Same for me here in AL. Paycheck was two weeks behind work performed so my last check came 2 weeks from my last day of work (quit on last day of pay period) Seperate check for owed Vacation came same day.

Well I gave my official 2 week notice today and I was told that they'd like me to work a week then leave but I would be paid for the full two weeks.

I got a bad feeling about this, should I get this in writing?

Well, unfortunately they don't owe it to you to keep you on for two weeks. LA is a right to work state. They could have canned you when you turned in your notice.

They don't have to pay you for the second week but if they say they will then they likely will.

When I left a job a while back (about 5 yrs ago), they just gave me my check (Direct Deposit) on normal pay schedule.

I'm not sure if terminations are like that, though.

Varies state to state. CA law is, shockingly, very employee friendly.
