my son just got a job working for a place that is federally funded. he is only 16 years old and is working part time. do they tax the check of a minor?

If he's getting a check then he's paying taxes. The good news is he may get a considerable chunk back when he files his taxes.

Unless the employer is willing to pay your son's share of the taxes(is that even legal?), he's getting taxed.

If you earn above a threshold (9 or 10K I think) you have to file. But if you're 16 you're almost certainly doing a 1040EZ which is not remotely hard to do.

They will take taxes out but he will get close to 100% of it back when you file the return.

I just route my paycheck through my seven year old, and I don't have to pay shite to Uncle Sam.
