I usually go get a shot but I don't have the time to get an appointment. My sons birthday party is Saturday and we have appointments and I need to set up tomorrow.

I have tried scrubs and calamine before but they never helped. Maybe I didn't get the right stuff. What do you use to get rid of poison ivy?

I know nothing I do will get rid of it by tomorrow or anything but maybe something to tame it. Te worst of it is in the inside of my elbow. With this heat, its constantly being aggravated.

poison ivy

Knock wood, have never had it and I've been all over the woods many, many times in my life. Hope I'm immune.

Peroxide, lab grade. It will clear it in a day or so.

The culprit in poison ivy is an oil.

1) First use some sort of dispersant to remove any oil, but be careful to not spread it to unaffected skin (Dawn or anything else that will disperse oil)

2) Take oral Benadryl tablets (will also help you sleep through the night)

3) Spread either hydrocortisone cream or Benadryl cream on the affected areas.

4) Cover the affected areas.

My exwifes brother swears he got rid of his poison ivy by pissing on it in the shower. If he couldn't directly piss on the area he pissed in a cup and poured it on his skin. I called bullshite until I saw him pour a cup of hot piss all over his arm. To his credit the area was clear in 2 days, however I have never tried it personally.

First thing, poison ivy can't spread after you get it. That is a wives tale. The reason some pops up later is because that spot was less exposed to the oil than the others. The best thing you could have done is vigorously wash your skin within 20-30 minutes after making contact with it. Other than that aside from getting a shot the only thing you can do is remedies for the itching. The oil will run its course sadly.
