Can we agree that it's difficult to see anybody you care about embrace a failed ideology/belief system? Islam is truly wretched to anybody who cares about human freedom and where it thrives, human beings suffer. What we broadly call "Western Democracy" has been the highest expression of human freedom, not some 12th Century superstition that spawns child-bombers and gay-stonings and killing 3000 Americans in a single morning.
CJ has ALWAYS had psychological problems. That is well-documented. It does not surprise me that with his extremely limited intelligence and education that he would embrace Islam. I would not have been surprised had he embraced crack cocaine or Scientology either. He's a flaky dude who attached himself to some half-baked nonsense. That doesn't make him a bad human being. In fact, I think Chris has always been a really good guy on a personal basis. Just a really good guy in a lot of physical and psychological turmoil.
I will continue to pull for Chris and wish him well. But I'm not going to take my personal feelings for Chris and pretend that he doesn't have a warped value system that in many critical ways are the antithesis of American values.
