One question. Summer classes at LSU start Monday. I'm assuming that it's still like the old days and once you go to class you can't sign anymore

False. Draftees have until July 18th to sign with their MLB club. That is why it was so controversial when Zach Lee came to LSU. He was on campus for a few weeks before the Dodgers ponied up the cash to sign him, but everyone, Lee included, did not think the Dodgers would actually sign him.

Yeah that's kind of a shitty rule IMO. If you enroll, you should be forced to go to the school.

Was he not in summer school? I dont know... You may be right.

ETA: Lee did attend summer school at LSU before signing with the Dodgers. So Marshall could do the same.

That article says he was going to attend in the fall.

Sorry, posted the wrong article. Here is the article stating he was in class. I was still attending LSU then and saw him in the Pentagon dining hall for at least 3 or 4 weeks before he signed.

Believe deadline has changed since Lee signed after starting football practice.

It has. Old deadline was around August 15th/16th, but this year it moved up to July 18th.

The deadline was previously even later than that. I believe it was in September, so that's why the "attending class" situation would come into play. Then it was August 15th, now July 15th. It can move a few days based on the day of the week it falls. It was moved to the 18th this year, which I think was due to the all star break.

What do yall think the chances of Papierski making it are?? I didn't realize he is rated in the Top 200 prospects on MLB.com Draft Central....

Of course, Marshall, Bradley, Godfrey & Diechmann are there as well.

Has a great frame for his position as well as the ability to switch hit. Teammate of pitcher Jake Latz...is still raw and I think he'll end up at LSU with him being the only true catcher in this class and Scivique becoming a senior next season.

I actually think current LSU-E player and former Catholic catcher Jordan Romero is better.

I think that both Nick and Jordan will be big time D1 players. Nick is following Jordan to LSU-E, so he'll have an opportunity play 3rd and catch. Both can hit a ton.

I thought we were trying to sign 6 pitchers. Is 5 enough if we can get them all?
