As far as compensation goes, it varies across the board.
Here is a link to the CFP's in your area that require $0-$99,999 account minimum, and are fee only. I haven't ever seen anyone meet to just give an education lesson, but maybe the will charge by the hour and you can get them 2-3 hours.

Call them and just tell them what your trying to do they should be able to help you out, if nothing else they could put you in the right direction.
